Angels Top 5 Moments Of The 2025 Season
December 30, 2025 - Written by Zac Holladay
As we close out 2025 and welcome in 2026, it is time for Angels fans to reflect on the awesome memories made this last season. Amongst all the failure to live up to expectations, there were real signs of talent throughout the whole team. And those signs of talent were exhibited in walk-offs, comebacks, milestones and impressive hot-streaks. These moments are what we, as fans, will treasure forever and carry with us throughout each and every journey the Angels bring us. So, before we completely turn our attention to the hopes and expectations for next season, let's soak in one last dose of the 2025 Angels and their best and most special moments.
5. Extra Inning Comeback @ STL (4/1)
This series, and this game, was a big spark of hope that this year's Angels team was unlike ones in the past. After both starters, Kyle Hendricks and Cardinals southpaw Matthew Liberatore, pitched 6 innings, they managed to keep their teams within a close range with a score of 3-2 LAA at the end of 6 innings. As the Cardinals tied the game at 3 in the 8th, this game would go to extra innings for the second game in a row. Big hits with runners on from Nolan Schanuel and Jo Adell gave them a 3 run lead, just to be erased in the bottom half with relievers Garrett McDaniels and Ryan Johnson giving up runs. Onto the 11th, 2-out hits from Kyren Paris and Yoán Moncada helped the Angels regain their 3-run lead and go on to win 9-7. Angels don’t have a knack for piling on runs in extra innings, so doing so in back-to-back innings to refuse defeat showed an awesome trait of resilience from the team.
4. Christian Moore’s Walk-Off Home Run vs. BOS (6/24)
Although it was a low-scoring game, the fact that the Halos came out on top was truly incredible. Opposing the reigning Angels All-Star Tyler Anderson was the Red Sox superstar ace Garrett Crochet. Through 7 innings, Crochet had managed only 3 hits and 0 runs while striking out 10 Angels. On the other side of the scorecard, Anderson held the Sox to 1 run through 4.2 innings and left relievers Connor Brogdon and Hunter Strickland to shut down the opposing offense through the 7th inning. Almost immediately after Crochet was taken out of the game, Christian Moore tied the game at 1 with a solo shot in the 8th for only his 2nd homer in the Majors. Going into extras, reliever Reid Detmers gives up the lead as Marcelo Mayer drives in the ghost runner from 2nd. And as the Red Sox sought to take the second game of the series, going into the bottom of the 10th, Christian Moore put the team on his back as he sent the pitch out to right center field and bangs it off the right field wall for his second home run of the game and to win it for the Angels in a pitching-centered contest. Overcoming a great team in the Red Sox and going toe-to-toe with one of the game's best pitchers in Garrett Crochet was an awesome sight as the Angels rookie got the job done twice.
3. Angels Win 8 Straight Games: 3 @ LAD, 4 @ ATH, 1 vs. MIA (5/16-5/23)
In the midst of a season of inconsistency, this was most consistent that the Angels had been in a while. Going into Los Angeles, the Halos had to face the reigning World Series champs after losing 15 of their last 21 games and winning only 1 series out of their last 7. The Angels always seem to play with a chip on their shoulder when they face their cross town rivals, but this was another level of ball that we had never seen from this Angels team. In the sweep of the Dodgers, the Angels put up 23 runs, 7 home runs and averaged over 10 hits a game, simply outhitting the WS Champs. When the Angels traveled north to Sacramento, they did even more damage than before as they swept the Athletics in a 4-game series. Their numbers were even more impressive in West Sacramento, scoring 31 runs again, slugging 10 homers and averaging 11.5 hits per game. And just for good measure, the Halos extended their winning streak by taking the first game of the series against the Miami Marlins at home. Tons of great performances were on display in the 8 game stretch, but a few names to mention are: Logan O’Hoppe (5 HRs), Taylor Ward (4 HRs), and Yusei Kikuchi (11.1 IP, 1 ER, 11 K). An overall ambush of a performance from this Angels squad and a small sample of what could be to come for this team and what they are capable of when healthy and rolling.
2. Mike Trout’s 400th Career Home Run @ COL (9/20)
It took him a while to get there, but Mike Trout hit his 400th career home run at the end of the 2025 season. It was a frustrating dash to get there and was definitely a well elongated one at that. Trout started the season with 378 career home runs and he only needed 22 in the 2025 season to reach the feat of 400. Assuming that he would be healthy, 22 was a layup for the future Hall of Famer. His track record of getting injured is becoming a consistent occurrence which led fans to believe that the big 400 would be a bit harder to witness in 2025. As he wasn’t injured for nearly as much time this season, the race for the milestone looked effortless. But, as time went on, his struggles at the plate was what hindered Trout from posting his prolific power numbers. From mid-August to mid-September, Trout went 28 games without hitting a home run, the longest streak of his career. It had seemed as if he was really slowing down as his bat speed and plate discipline took a steep decline. But on September 11th, Trout took Mariners starter Bryce Miller deep for home run #399 as the feat, all the sudden, seemed possible. And just a little more than a week later, in the 8th inning, facing Rockies pitcher Jaden Hill, Mike Trout crushed a 485- foot bomb out to dead center to finally accomplish the feat that he had dreaded getting all season. This was Trout’s moment of 2025 and just another mark that he has reached that will be added to his Hall of Fame resume when it’s all said and done.
1. Angels sweep the season series against the Dodgers (5/16-5/18, 8/11-8/13)
Out of all the teams in the league, the Angels were the only team to beat the now back-toback WS champs in every game in 2025. Complete domination, you could say. The key for the Angels that helped them sweep the Dodgers was to simply play like it's “their World Series”, as every other team did. Except the Angels played like that in every game. The pitching did enough to keep the Dodgers within range and the offense took the steering wheel. Homers ranged from big guys like Zach Neto and Logan O’Hoppe to unlikely heroes like Matthew Lugo and Travis d’Arnaud. Angels scored 4+ runs off of pitchers like Shohei Ohtani, Clayton Kershaw and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. This season series included moments including 2 leadoff home runs from Zach Neto, go-ahead home run from Travis d’Arnaud, a triple play off of Shohei Ohtani, and a walk-off single from Jo Adell. There was no shortage of action in this series and will carry memories for Angels fans for generations to come.
Honorable Mentions: Taylor Ward’s 9th Inning Go-Ahead Grand Slam @ SD, Jorge Soler’s Walk Off Bases-Clearing Double vs. TOR, Jo Adell’s Walk Off Bases-Clearing Double vs. SF
The Halos had some exciting and exhilarating moments in 2025 that showed a ton of fun talent for the future. These games will forever be a part of this team and with the fans. 2026 will include more awesome comebacks, game-breaking catches and jaw-dropping home runs. But until then, these are the best moments of 2025.
