The Future of Angels Pitching
June 3, 2026 - Written by Isaias Acosta
Tyler Bremner (RHP, LAA) was just as advertised last night. 94-97 mph on a cold night, T98 w/ride + run. 85-89 mph slider, good shape. Changeup certainly met expectations. Collected 6 whiffs, outstanding ability to sell and tunnel. Ran into some walks, but super athletic, looks… pic.twitter.com/MuWzig2Nnc

For many years now, the biggest issue for this team has been the lack of pitching. Whether it has been starting or relief pitching, it has been lacking for quite some time now and has cost the team many games. This season, that issue has been the glaring one of this very underwhelming season thus far. Although the unit as a whole is amongst the worst in the league, the team still has some promising arms that could lead the way for years to come, and they have shown that they are ready to lead this team.
Starting Pitching
The Angels have long struggled to develop any kind of pithing prospects, especially starters. Reid Detmers has shown flashes but remains inconsistent, and youngsters such as Caden Dana and Sam Aldegheri are never given a fair shot in the rotation to prove themselves. While there are some negatives, there are three guys that are poised to carry this rotation. José Soriano has ascended into a C.Y Young caliber pitcher this season and has undoubtedly become the ace of the franchise. Soriano carries a 2.44 ERA in 11 starts with 74 K’s and a 1.07 WHIP this season and has shown his improvement every start so far. Soriano has formed a very nice partnership with newcomer Walbert Ureña. Ureña, 22, has been fantastic for the Angels since his return from the minors and has given the club another arm to rely on, carrying a 2.58 ERA in 38.1 innings pitched. When it comes to the prospect pool, all eyes are on the organizations No. 1 prospect Tyler Bremner. Bremner has been exceptional in High-A and with the way the team runs, it’s very possible that Bremners debut could be this season. If they can properly develop Bremner and polish off Urena, this team could have a lethal trio in their starting rotation.
Bullpen
The bullpen has also long been an issue with this team, which stems from the lack of development, as well as a lack of signing competent bullpen arms. While that may be the case, there have been two bright spots in that unit. Sam Bachman and Chase Silseth have been very good out of the bullpen this year and have shown that they are comfortable in that position. They have combined for 14 holds this season and both carry a sub 2.50 ERA. They’re both 26 and have developed very nicely, which is promising for the future. José Fermin has also shown positive flashes and improvement so far which gives the bullpen another reliable arm. The club still awaits the return of flamethrower Ben Joyce and if he can return to his old form, there is definitely a foundation to build around. Throwing in a few veteran arms can also help the young arms further develop.
