Under the Radar Halos: Angels to Keep an Eye On

Angels Articles

May 9, 2026 - Written by Alex Sukyas

Beyond stars like Mike Trout, José Soriano, and Zach Neto, there are guys in the MLB and Triple-A that are making huge impacts for the Angels, except nobody’s talking about it. With that being said, let’s dive into these guys’ performances so far this year and discuss what their performances may mean for the Angels.

UTIL Oswald Peraza

The Angels acquired Peraza in a trade with the Yankees at last year’s deadline, in exchange for OF Wilberson De Pena, who’s currently still in the Yankees’ minor league system, at the Rookie Ball level, and international bonus pool money. Peraza would play 35 games for the Angels in 2025, having a line of .186/.245/.267 with 2 HRs, 7 RBIs, and 6 Stolen Bases. So far this 2026 season, Peraza has been on fire, putting up some of the best single-season numbers of his career so far. Peraza currently has a line of .278/.340/.454, with 4 HRs, 9 RBIs, and 5 Stolen Bases in 35 Games played as well. On top of this huge improvement from last season, Peraza has also been stellar on defense. He currently has a run value of +2 on defense, according to Baseball Savant. This stat means that he’s saved 2 more runs compared to the average fielder. Usually, +5-10 on one whole season is considered good, with +15 or higher being considered gold glove quality fielding. His current +2 is already higher than what he’s accumulated on defense his entire 2025 season, in which he had a run value of +1. If Peraza can keep up his offensive production and defensive reliability, he’ll be a foundational piece of the Angels’ infield.

RHP Najer Victor

Victor, who was drafted in the 14th Round of the 2024 Draft, has worked his way up through the Angels’ minor league system and was recently called up to Triple-A. If you recall, Victor struck out 4 batters in a row for Team Britain in the WBC when they went up against Team USA. Victor would be one of 3 Great Britain pitchers to not let up a run and the only team Britain pitcher to not allow a hit in Team Britain’s 9-1 loss to the US. During his outing, Victor would only let up one walk to Dodgers 3x All-Star Catcher Will Smith. Beside that walk, Victor would strike out 4 Team USA batters, those batters being 3x MVP Aaron Judge, 2x MVP Bryce Harper, 2023 AL Rookie of the Year Gunnar Henderson, and Red Sox rising star Roman Anthony. During his first outing in Triple-A, Victor showed 3 types of pitches: a 4-Seam Fastball, A cutter, and a Slider. His Fastball averaged 94.6 MPH, but his cutter and slider showed some control issues. Overall, Victor can be viewed as an exciting pitcher who could find his way into the Angels’ bullpen sooner rather than later.

OF Bryce Teodosio

The Angels initially signed Teodosio as an undrafted free agent in 2021, and has since made his way through the Angels’ minor league system all the way up to the Major leagues, where he would make his debut in a September 2024 game vs. the Rangers. He would only play 5 games in 2024. In 2025, Teodosio would appear in 50 games, slashing .203/.248/.304 with 1 HR, 7 RBIs, and 7 Stolen Bases. However, Teodosio’s 2025 season would be highlighted by outstanding defense, as he would rack up a run value of +9 in those 50 games played. So far in 2026, Teodosio has been equally great on both offense and defense in the games he’s played in. Throughout this 2026 season, Teodosio has played in 29 games, slashing .278/.333/.333 with 0 HRs, 2 RBIs, and 4 Stolen Bases. He’s accumulated a +2 run value so far this year. With this great defense, Teodosio is also extremely fast on the basepaths. As mentioned before, Teodosio already has 4 Stolen Bases, along with his 7 last year. According to Baseball Savant, Teodosio has a speed rating of 96, when the highest possible is 100. This rating is actually higher than Reds SS Elly De La Cruz, who had 67 SBs in 2024. Assuming Teodosio can get more power out of his swing, in which power has been his biggest issue so far in his career, having him in Left Field beside Mike Trout and Jo Adell can be a scary outfield trio for the Angels. Overall, Teodosio may be the best outfielder the Angels have in their system, and his improvements in his offense make him an everyday starter-quality player.

2B Vaughn Grissom

The Angels acquired Vaughn Grissom in a trade with the Boston Red Sox this past offseason. The Angels would acquire Grissom in exchange for OF Isaiah Jackson, who is currently with Boston’s High-A affiliate. Grissom was once viewed as a highly promising player when he was with the Atlanta Braves, but would be traded to Boston in exchange for Chris Sale, who would win teh Cy Young award the following season. Despite Grissom’s regression throughout his career, he’s been solid for the Angels so far this season, slashing .264/.349/.396 with 1 HR and 7 RBIs. On defense, Grissom’s been average, with a run value of 0. However, this is still an improvement compared to previous years, where he had a run value of -6 with the Braves in 2023. Overall, Grissom is showing promise for a player who was traded for such a small package.

3B/1B Jeimer Candelario

Candelario has seen plenty of regression throughout his career, as he was once considered an above-average/good 3B. The Angels were able to sign him to a minor league deal last offseason, and so far in Triple-A, he’s slashed .281/.359/.439 with 2 HRs, 8 RBIs, and 1 Stolen Base. While it may not seem entirely impressive, his veteran status and solid performance will make him a good backup in case the current starting 3B, Yoan Moncada, gets injured.

Hey I’m Alex! I’m a SoCal native currently living in Ventura County. I’ve been an Angels fan since birth and don’t plan on changing that. My favorite players are Logan O’Hoppe and Mike Trout.
