Angels Top 15 Prospects

Angels Prospects

February 24, 2026 - Written by Brayden Zielke

With MLB posting their prospect rankings for each team within the next few weeks, I wanted to highlight my personal rankings for the Los Angeles Angels top 15 prospects. I definitely think it is worth watching how these prospects progress throughout the upcoming 2026 MiLB season.

#1 - Tyler Bremner, RHP

Tyler Bremner was selected 2nd Overall in the 2025 MLB Draft out of UC Santa Barbara. Although it was a controversial selection, it is undeniable that Bremner is the top prospect in the organization. Bremner features a 3 pitch arsenal, with both his fastball and changeup rated exceptionally well by scouts. While there is undoubtedly room for Bremner to grow, it would come as no shock if we see him in Anaheim towards the end of this season. Bremner is currently ranked 81st on MLB’s Top 100 Prospects list and is the Angels lone Top 100 representative.

#2 - Nelson Rada, OF

Nelson Rada is, in my opinion, the most underrated player in the Angels minor league system. Despite being only 20 years old, he has played 4 full seasons of minor league baseball after being signed by the Angels in early 2022. Despite great production in 2022 and 2023, Rada took a step back in 2024 during his first season in AA. However, Rada broke out in 2025, playing in 135 games between AA and AAA. On the year, he slashed .292/.398/.360 with a whopping 54 stolen bases. Rada is a contact first hitter and obviously has massive speed. While I don’t think he will crack the Opening Day roster, I do think we’ll see Rada at some point this season.

#3 - Ryan Johnson, RHP

Ryan Johnson was selected 74th Overall in the 2024 MLB Draft out of Dallas Baptist University. Despite playing 0 minor league games, the Angels vaulted him onto the Opening Day roster in 2025. Johnson struggled immensely in 14 relief appearances, with a 7.36 ERA and an ERA+ of only 59. The Angels sent him down to A+ to develop as a starting pitcher, where he truly thrived. In 12 starts for Tri-City, Johnson boasted a 1.88 ERA. Johnson found his way into MLB’s Top 100 Prospects last season, but is no longer featured.

#4 - Trey Gregory-Alford, RHP

Trey Gregory-Alford was selected 322nd Overall in the 2024 MLB Draft out of Coronado High School in Colorado. Gregory-Alford was committed to Virginia, which is why he fell so far in the draft. However, the Angels gave him a signing bonus of $1.96 million, which was enough to lure him away from Virginia. In 2025, he played fine in the Arizona Complex League (ACL), but was lights out after being called up to A. In 6 starts at Inland Empire, Gregory-Alford had a 1.42 ERA and allowed no home runs. On the year, Gregory-Alford started 16 games and had 2 relief appearances, finishing with a 2.86 ERA and only 2 home runs given up in 78.2 innings.

#5 - Dylan Jordan, RHP

Dylan Jordan was selected 143rd Overall in the 2024 MLB Draft out of Viera High School in Florida. Like Gregory-Alford, Jordan was given good money to prevent him from playing college baseball. The Angels gave Jordan $1.25 million to lure him away from Florida State. Jordan started 12 games in the ACL and had a 3.21 ERA. Jordan then proceeded to play some of the best baseball within the organization after being called up to A. In 7 starts at Inland Empire, Jordan had a 0.94 ERA, meaning he only gave up 3 runs in 28.2 innings of work. I believe that TGA and Jordan are 4A and 4B, but I gave Gregory-Alford the nod because I believe that his long term potential is slightly higher than Jordan’s.

#6 - George Klassen, RHP

George Klassen was selected 193rd Overall by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2023 MLB Draft out of the University of Minnesota. The Angels acquired him in the Carlos Estevez trade at the trade deadline of 2024. Klassen pitched well for both the Phillies and Angels organizations in 2024, but really struggled in 2025 to the tune of a 5.22 ERA. I believe that Klassen still has the potential to be a solid pitcher, hence why I kept him on this list. I am curious to see whether he bounces back in 2026 or has another rough season.

#7 - Chris Cortez, RHP

Chris Cortez was selected 45th Overall in the 2024 MLB Draft out of Texas A&M. In his 3 seasons at Texas A&M, Cortez only started 10 games, compared to 59 relief appearances. Despite this, the Angels were dedicated in their efforts to use Cortez as a starter. The Angels also allowed Cortez to leapfrog rookie ball and start the 2025 season in A+. In 26 starts at Tri-City, Cortez had a 4.28 ERA and spent the whole season there. While he only averaged about 4.1 innings per start, these numbers are quite promising for a pitcher who barely ever started in college.

#8 - Johnny Slawinski, LHP

Johnny Slawinski was selected 79th Overall in the 2025 MLB Draft out of Lyndon B. Johnson High School in Texas. Slawinski is a well rounded southpaw with a four pitch arsenal. Many scouts believe that he could have three plus pitches once he fills out his frame and continues to develop on the mound.

#9 - Talon Haley, LHP

Talon Haley was selected 349th Overall in the 2025 MLB Draft out of Lewisburg High School in Mississippi. Haley has had quite the journey to get to professional baseball. Haley had his first Tommy John surgery before his High School career started. He was then diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and had another UCL tear. To stay on the field, Haley learned to pitch right-handed and played through chemotherapy and radiation. Haley was given a $900,000 signing bonus by the Angels, enough to sway him away from his college commitment to Vanderbilt. If Haley is able to stay healthy, he has the talent and determination to be a successful MLB pitcher.

#10 - Joel Hurtado, RHP

Joel Hurtado signed with the Angels in 2022 and had had an up and down career thus far. Hurtado struggled with walking hitters and keeping his ERA down in A and A+ in 2023 and 2024, respectively. However, Hurtado found success in AA during the 2025 season. In 18 starts in Rocket City and 1 start in AAA Salt Lake, Hurtado pitched to a 2.75 ERA and only walked only 28 in 91.2 innings pitched. While we could see Hurtado make a move to the bullpen, it seems like the Angels are committed to him being a starting pitcher.

#11 - Gabriel Davalillo, C

Gabriel Davalillo signed with the Angels in January, 2025 and is only 18 years old. He spent the entire 2025 season in the Dominican Summer League, where he found a lot of offensive success. In 41 games, Davalillo slashed .302/.408/.518 with 7 home runs and 31 RBI. He also walked more than he struck out, which is very promising. Davalilli has a bright future, whether we continue to develop him or use him as a trade piece in the future.

#12 - Joswa Lugo, SS

Joswa Lugo signed with the Angels in January, 2024 and has played 2 seasons in the Angels organization. In 88 games across both the DSL and ACL, Lugo has slashed .289/.375/.372 with 7 home runs and 60 RBI. Lugo has struggled with striking out, but his power and offensive potential is undeniable.

#13 - Hayden Alvarez, OF

Hayden Alvarez signed with the Angels back in 2024 and is still just 18 years old. He’s played 125 games over the past 2 seasons in Rookie Ball and A, slashing .302/.405/.400 with 65 stolen bases. While not yet a power hitter, his speed allows him to snag extra bases that his bat would otherwise not attain. Alvarez is also a very good fielder, utilizing his speed in CF as well.

#14 - Sam Aldegheri, LHP

Sam Aldegheri signed with the Philadelphia Phillies back in 2019 and came to Anaheim with the aforementioned George Klassen in the Carlos Estevez trade. Aldegheri has had 59 starts and 10 relief appearances throughout his 5 years in the minors, where he has a 3.67 ERA and over 10.2 K/9. He has had a few short opportunities in the majors with the Angels, starting 3 games in 2024 and starting 2 games with 2 relief appearances in 2025. In those games, he has a 6.41 ERA, an ERA+ of 68, and only 7.4 K/9.

#15 - Samy Natera Jr., LHP

Samy Natera Jr. was selected 508th Overall in the 2022 MLB Draft out of New Mexico State. Natera struggled in 2023, was injured for most of 2024, but really found his groove in 2025. In 49 total appearances across AA and AAA, Natera had a 2.84 ERA and a whopping 13.4 K/9. Unfortunately, he also had 6.6 BB/9. If Natera is able to gain some control and limit walks, he will be a great asset for the Angels out of the bullpen.
