Here are a couple of minor league deals to start the Winter Meetings in 2025. Sebastián Rivero, who was with the Angels in 2025, has played just 45 games at the Major League level, in which he’s posted a .172 / .226 / .242 slashline with a 24 OPS+. In the minors, he’s put up a .238 / .287 / .349 line. He’s currently playing in the Venezuelan Winter League, where he’s at an OPS below .700. With the weak offense, the defense, with what metrics are available, is also subpar. Even with a better pop time throughout the years, his caught stealing above average sits at -2, with just three runners caught out of 20 attempts. On top of this, he has below-average framing metrics and on-par blocking metrics. Overall, a mediocre singing for the Halos, as Rivero’s a guy who will most likely stay in the minors for 2026.
Angel Perdomo, entering his age-32 season, owns a career 5.54 ERA in 56 games. He spent most of 2025 with Triple-A Las Vegas, where he walked 13 and gave up four homers in just 12 games. According to the available metrics, he’s a great ground-ball pitcher and gets soft contact. He just doesn’t have the stuff to get guys to chase. He had a great 2023 with Pittsburgh, where he threw 29 innings to the tune of a 3.72 ERA with 13.7 K/9, which translated into a 4.00 K/BB ratio. He’s seen success at the Major League level, and his time in the Dominican Republic right now is being used to fix his pitching issues. Perdomo could perhaps be a September call-up if he succeeds at the minor league level in 2026.
